Jen was born in upstate New York, where milk came directly from the cows and evening walks with the family’s sheep Chico and goat Willy were regular events. She received many awards for drawing and painting as she grew up but didn’t pick up a camera until pursuing an engineering degree at Georgia Tech. Realizing photography was her true passion she retuned to school after working in the engineering field for several to pursuit a formal education in the art of photography at Santa Monica College in California (one of the Nation’s top ranking photography schools).
Jen loves to capture people in the moment! She believes that photography can capture these simple, real moments to tell a timeless story in a way that nothing else can. Her personable, friendly and down to earth manner gives her a natural knack with people enabling her to bring out their true spirit from infancy to adulthood. Her balance between behind-the–scenes photojournalistic images and truly beautiful portraiture ensures that those special and emotional moments are documented and will live on to be cherished by friends, families, children and grandchildren.
Jen is very honored to be voted the Best Visual Artist in Western North Carolina by the Mountain Xpress for 2008. Jen was also selected as a North Carolina Regional Artist Project Grant recipient and has been selected to study under the world-renowned fine art photographer, Rod Dresser. Her personal work has been seen in galleries and private collections throughout the country.
Jen is available for wedding, portrait and special event engagements in Asheville and abroad.
